‘Where’s Joslyn’ Blog Contest Day 4…Country Change-Up

How impressed am I that one of you , let alone a bunch of you guys was able to guess Day 3? Uh, I’m very impressed.

In the past few days, I’ve moved on to another country now and I’m having a blast! This photo is really challenging. In fact, I don’t even think the power of Waldo and Carmen San Diego combined could really compete (yes, I just referenced two things usually only toddlers are interested in).

Anyways lovelies, here’s your HINT: God Save the Queen!

And, here’s the RULES recap-aroo!

1. ‘Where’s Joslyn’ physically in the picture. Can you spot her in her signature headband and shades? You must leave a very detailed answer. IE: What do the people she’s standing next to look like? What are thy wearing?

2. ‘Where’s Joslyn’ at in the world. You must leave an extremely detailed answer. IE: City, location and details of the specific location itself! DETAILS ARE THE KEY TO WINNING!

God save the queen! You’re at the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Picadilly Circus. You’re standing to the left of the light pole on the steps wearing a white t-shirt. There’s a girl in a blue jacket sitting in front of you.

    1. if you look at the lamp pole and the trash can on the left side of the photo, josyln is the first person that youcan see that is the CLOSEST to the pole. she is wearing a white shirt with jeans and holding a black bag i believe, also she is looking at the camera(: there is a boy sitting on the stairs close to her, wearing a green shirt with blue jeans. there is also another man by the end of her purse./bag he is wearinga white shirt.

2.she is at the shaftesbury memorial fountain in picadilly circus, london! It was built by Alfred Gilbert in 1893 to honor the philanthropist(person that donates to charities) lord shaftesbury, but the people of london thought it was a statue of Eros. Around it there are many important buildings, such as the london pavilion and criterion theatre. rightt underneath the plaza is the piccadilly circus tube station, part of the London Underground rapid transit system. ((((:

also god save the queen is the anthem (:

1…u r standing near the lightpole on the left of the pic…u r looking at the camera…there are 3 guys sitting on the steps to your left…the one in the middle has his hand on his chin and seems to be looking at you…possibly wondering what the he-eee-lll you are doing, crazy lady…your hands are crossed over your black bag and u look very stoic…

2…(and yes, i googled this also)…Piccadilly Circus memorial fountain with Anteros, popularly referred to as Eros or sometimes The Angel of Christian Charity, one of the first statues to be cast in aluminium…from wikipedia…after googling “fountain london” and finding a pic on someone else’s blog…

    1. you are standing on the steps on the left side of the picture next to the lamp post well technically behind it and off the left side. Someone is seating in front of you on the steps which looks like a light blue sweater and black pants. There are two people on the left side on the steps sitting on with a green tshirt with jeans and the other person with a white shirt and black pants.

    2. you are at Piccadilly Circus on the West End of London in Westminster. You are standing in front of the Shaftesbury Monument Memorial Fountain it was created in honor of Lord Shaftesbury who was a politician and philanthropist. The Piccadilly has lots of shops and theater.

Picadilly Circus, London, UK! Joslyn is standing just behind the street lamp, on the left, holding a black bag, just next to one person sitting on the stairs, wearing a white-ish shirt and black pants.

Picadilly Circus is one of the busiest places in London. There is a statue of Eros on top of the fountain that we can’t see on the picture. If you walk back from where you are standing you’ll reach a nice square with a public garden and lots of bars and theathers, and go right in the heart of the theater district and on the way to Covent Garden. In front there’s Picadilly Street and a bit on the left Regent Street. The Fortnum and Masons’ on Pically Street is amazing… 🙂

  7. Well I see you!! But besides being in London, England I have no idea where you are! :o) I hope people find you though!

You are wearing ur signature items and a white jacket i think with a grey shirt possibly, its kind of hard to tell. Some people are sitting on the steps around u and one is wearing a white shirt with grey bottoms it seems to be. There is a child next to him wearing a green t-shirt and jeans. You are a little far away from a large pole.

You are in Piccadilly Square London at the statue/fountain of Eros. It was made in 1893. There wasa a great controversy when Eros was unvieled as people were uncomfortable with such a naked figure being displayed in public. As a result, the statue was renamed The Angel of Christian Charity but this did not catch on and over the years, the statues name was abbreviated from Anteros to Eros. The statue is of a winged naked archer and was created by sculptor Alfred Gilbert in 1893. It was commissioned as a memorial to the 7th Earl of Shatesbury who was a famous philanthropist and politician. it is open all the time and the falcon manor hotel is 17.5 miles away from the statue, the westmorland hotel is 18.0 miles away from the statue and the best western castle green hotel in Kendal is 19.9 miles away from the statue. The famous statue is one of the symbols of London. The actual figure rises above a fountain, which is made in bronze, but Eros is made of aluminum, at that time a rare and novel material. The sculptor used the fountain idea as an excuse for incorporating a variety of fishes and crustaceous life in design. Unfortunately, the statue was vandalised by August of 1893 and the spot had been permitted to be used as a playground by dirty and squalid children. Since then it has undergone various tribulations including in 1994 damage by a drunken visator climbing on it and bending the figure. hope that was enough details joslyn 🙂
