Game Changer – Breast Cancer Awareness
I’ve always been an advocate for breast cancer awareness, but seeing E! News host Giuliana Rancic make the announcement that she, at 36 years old, has breast cancer, really hit home. I was, and am so moved by her courage. If you haven’t seen the video, I’ll have it below. I really think this video is important for women of all ages, specifically teen, 20 and 30-somethings to view. The fact is, there are so many other women just like Giuliana all around the world. I recently met a breast cancer survivor named Pam Schmid at an event and she was kind enough to chat with my friend Janelle Ortiz and I, and she even gave us a copy of her book “101 Things You Should Know About Breast Cancer.” I thought #28 on her list really struck a chord with me. Generally speaking, I think these are words to live by when it comes to health: “You should know your body and trust your instincts.”
After we met Pam, Janelle and I took a photo with the word hope spelled out on the grass. Pam and her friends are trying to spread their message of hope across the world. Seriously she was very courageous.. I was very sad when I heard the news.. and after the video I was almost crying and very pained for her… I’m 25 and I’m really aware of this cause and we talk about it a lot with my friends! We got to keep hope and as Pam said trust our instinct
