Style Truce: Pink Floral Kimono

Welcome to…STYLE TRUCE!

This is the first-ever posting of an on-going series will be appearing on my blog every Wednesday! My sister, Ali, moonlights as what I’ve dubbed a Life Stylista. You see, she’s a 9th grade teacher by day and by night she’s a fashionista who loves a challenge. Don’t believe me? The girl wore the same dress for 30 DAYS in a row (no joke) and documented everything on her blog, Fabulously Ridiculous.

So, after years of sharing a room and arguing over who stole whose sock OR who borrowed whose favorite shoes without asking or who melted whose jacket on a heater (yes, that was me) we’ve decided to call a STYLE TRUCE and turn our teenage arguments into something fun for us, and hopefully for you, too!

Despite all those years of bickering back and forth, Ali and I really are the best of friends, so much so that we’ve lived together for many years now…without our parents even forcing us to do so. Over time, we’ve realized that we have similar taste in items and pieces we buy, and it’s become somewhat of a fun game to see how each of us will style something new the other has purchased…which brings me to this new posting series.

We’re sisters, we’ve called a truce, and now we’re showing you two different takes on fun affordable styles from different points of view. That said, welcome to STYLE TRUCE!

One more important note: We are committed to having featured items (ie the things we share) be affordable and accessible to everyone! After all, fashion should be a right, not a privilege 🙂

FEATURED ITEM: Pink Floral Kimono by Salvage Life – $45.00

The Who & What: Ali’s Happy Hour/Cocktails With Friends Look

The Where: This pink kimono easily takes any outfit from work to Happy Hour. I wear it as my “POP! of color” with my black pencil pants, black basic tank, and black heels.  It makes an otherwise basic outfit interesting.

Tank: Target

Black Pants: Old Navy

Heels: Target

Bag: Marc Jacobs (similar)

The Who & What: Joslyn’s Boho Casual Look

The Where: On the weekends, I am all about comfort! After playing dress up and wearing globs of face paint (ie heavy make-up) at work all week, I normally don’t wear any make-up at all on weekends. I wore this look a few Saturdays ago to the Farmer’s Market!

White V-Neck T: Urban Outfitters

Denim Cut-off Shorts: Urban Outfitters (similar)

Nude Booties: Dolce Vita (similar)

Coral Long Necklace: Stella & Dot (similar)

Sunnies: Stella McCartney
